Unlike other memoir book options, we don't send out a weekly prompt to our storytellers. Although we do have a large database of prompts to explore and use, we believe the most meaningful stories recorded will be the ones that are so unique to you that no particular prompt could bring them to the surface. As such, storytellers on our platform work at their own pace, voice-recording, writing, and illustrating stories as they come. When you’re ready, your stories are compiled into a premium hardcover book—printed on high-quality paper and shipped straight to your door.

As of right now (December 2025) Imagen Books is the only memoir book platform that has AI image generation built-in to their platform. Quality AI image generation comes with a cost and we've built that cost into our service. This feature is important to us because so many of our memories happened off-camera, and we wanted these stories to be as seen and celebrated as those moments that were photographed.
No it will not. If you would like an additional year's access to Imagen Books, you will need to resubscribe by the time your current subscription expires. (No one likes being charged for something they weren't planning on renewing!) We will still back up your stories for 4 months after your subscription expires just in case you reconsider and want to return to storytelling.
You have the option to either type or voice-record your stories. This is all done under the "Books" tab of the platform.
Collaboration is important to us. It's from the perspectives of many that we get the clearest picture. If you want a friend or loved one to contribute a story to your book, you'll need to send them a prompt. To do this, first click on "Add A Prompt". If there is a specific story you want them to tell, like "the time mom accidentally baked the pizza with the plastic still on", select, "Write a Prompt". After adding the prompt, you will see the story appear at the top of your other stories. Click the three dots to the right of the story title, and select, "Send prompt". Enter their email, press ENTER, and an invite will be sent to their email to contribute to your story. From their mobile device or computer, they can open your invite to contribute, and voice record or type their story.
If instead you want to send them a prompt from the Prompts Library, simply select a prompt from the library and add it to your book. Then, navigate back to your books tab, choose your book, and as before, click the three dots to the right of your story title to enter the contributor's email.
After submitting a voice recording or audio file, a unique QR code will be generated and placed above the title of your story. You can scan the QR code with your phone anytime and listen to the story as it was originally told.
No problem! In the text editor there is an option in the upper-right called “Clean Up Story.” You can choose to remove filler words and correct grammar and spelling so the text portion reads more smoothly. It will not change the original audio file.
Recordings can be up to 30 minutes in length; there is no minimum length.
Yes! If you have a picture you want to upload to accompany a story, you can do so.
You can include up to one image for every page of text.
After switching from the Edit Story tab to the Add Images tab, the AI will scan your story in about two seconds and identify the key points. You can choose one of these options, or write your own as a custom prompt. After choosing an image generation prompt (or writing your own), choose an art style, or use the default you previously chose for your book. Click generate image, and go grab a snack. 30-35 seconds is all it takes for your image to generate.
If the generated image doesn't capture what you were hoping for, you can submit a new custom prompt, adding additional details to improve the generated image.
If you like the image but want to change small details (like hair color, items in background etc.) click Save, and then hover over the image. You will see an option to "Edit Image". Click here and explain in plain, natural language what you want changed in your image. Click "Refine image" and in 30-35 seconds, your image will be ready.
Yes, when you click "Refine image" and generate a new image, it uses an an image generation credit.
Yes, you can purchase batches of 100 image generation credits for $10 here.
Absolutely. You get one print-credit with your initial subscription purchase, and can purchase additional print credits for $32. Additional print credits can be added to your account here.
Your shipped book is a premium 8"x10" hardcover, printed in full color on high-quality paper. Each story becomes its own chapter, featuring a title, your written memories, optional photos, and a QR code that links to the original voice recording.
Yes — before you click “Publish,” you can preview the cover and pages as they will appear when printed.
